JOURNAL
Now and then I write a bit about my experiences out and about in nature, musings on the world, conservation stories and interviews with some interesting people.
On an extremely cold January afternoon as we watched Jackdaws and Rooks head south to their nightly roost, this Kestrel quietly observed us from its perch.
January - it must be the month which holds the record for the most conflicting feelings about it. I get the impression most people dislike this long, dark & cold month. And… I get it, it’s certainly a comedown from the frantic activities that come with December and the festive season.
I am not a morning person, especially on my hols but something woke me early before anyone else and I escaped through the front door binoculars in hand.
I watched the jackdaws paired up facing their feathers away from the strong westerly wind, monochrome silhouettes against the greying sky.
I’d like to imagine that it feels like you really are in the wilderness and you might just step over a ridge and come eye to eye with a wolf…
I am a gardener, I grow, I notice every little change in my garden, I smile a different kind of smile when I see the first shoots emerging in January and February. Yet today…. a beautiful sunny day two thirds of the way through the month of March I was surprised to see rows of Daffodils with their yellow heads still firmly enclosed in their green coats.
I have spent the last few days feeling a sort of paralysis in response to world events. With a tight knot in my stomach I’ve struggled to do any activity without a ‘what’s the point’ voice in my head. I’m guessing a lot of you are feeling similar.
Hello, if you’re reading this then I am really really happy to have you here. I intend to write in a fairly loose uninhibited way about the things that interest me, drive me creatively and also just musings on life, adventures, lovely things I’ve seen and I’d also like to share some of my work with you.
“Beautiful designs, unique and fantastic quality. Friendly fast service too!”
